The scourge of the streets of Nashville. But they are so popular with tourists (our bread and butter) that there is probably nothing that can put a stop to them.

I'm not a lawyer but I believe that in Canada (I live in BC) the police could charge the "driver" with Criminal Negligence: https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/section-219.html
That still would not result in justice for Jon's wife and they have my deepest sympathy.

Paris only banned rented scooters (and to be precise, only the kind with two small wheels, where the driver stands on a small platform between the wheels, not the seated model).
By the way, only 7.5% of inhabitants did vote, of which 90% against the rented scooters.
