:) That's very funny.

My clarinet professor in college used her old reeds to make an abstract sculpture. Everytime a reed became useless she'd slather it with glue and slap it on the sculpture. The result was interesting. I must try that myself someday.

One girl I knew collected everyone's old reeds and jabbed them into the edge of a music stand. Then she slid them across the music stand until the entire music stand had reeds on it. It was rather a neat looking, if not humorous, decoration.

It's nice to know there are still people out there with a sense of humor.

I've just been throwing all my old reeds into a box...never guessing that I was saving them for (a) compost or (b) artwork.

Now I need a use for all those chipped mouthpieces....

Dang! that's hilarious. Is the bass clef version awaiting government approval?

Wow. I've been throwing my old reeds into my compost box for years. DUH! I should have poured my money into a chipper.

Guess the microbes that eat my potato peels will just have to continue doing the job on my mangled Mitchell Luries, rotten Ricos, and vitiated Vandorens...

Maybe we should create a list on "what to do with old reeds" :-)

I like the art idea.

How about using them as kindling in the fireplace? (that depends on where you live)

What to do with chipped mouthpieces: turn them into keychains! (also use on those useless mouthpieces that come with new instruments)

Now if we can find uses for those reed cases (especially Vandoren ones) that most of us probably have too many of. Cat toys are one possibility for them.
