Hi, I asked him what is this red mouthpiece patch he has on all the time and he said It's one he made himself from a little red rubber band. It seems really interesting to me, I think maybe on this material, teeth catch better than with other mouthpiece patches? But how did he stuck It so well on the mouthpiece?

In years past you couldn't easily buy mouthpiece patches- so players would cut a square out of a rubber kitchen glove OR use a patch from a bicycle tire repair kit. I don't know what other players used, but I used super glue- and had to scrape it off the mouthpiece beak when the pad finally needed changing. Never really caused any big problem, but then maybe don't pay too much attention to me, as I've also just used standard Rico/Selmer/Buffet cork grease for the last 40 years and this is apparently a no-no that will destroy my corks.
I remember asking Sabine Meyer about this, and she was like "I don't know where it came from, my husband made it" (regarding her mouthpiece patch).

But this super glue, when you were about to replace the material(the patch), scraping off the mouthpiece wasn't too hard for the glue to come off? And I assume you were also scraping the mouthpiece beak's surface along with the glue? That's not good.. Anyway, I think though the rubber band might be better for teeth stability on the mouthpiece.. especially better than those BG, Vandoren and 0.8mm black patches in general. Can stand those.. Yamaha's 0.5mm material I can tell is great for teeth hooking well and the clear patches work as well in my experience.. But I don't know, maybe rubber band material.. I have the impression It does the better job of all, am I right?

Back when I was cutting patches out of rubber work gloves (red inside, black outside, later yellow inside) I used rubber cement. It works like contact cement that most repair people use to mount tenon corks - apply to both surfaces and let it dry, but lets go easily when you need to remove it. And it rolls off places you don't want it by rubbing it with your thumb.
Gigliotti didn't use any adhesive on the patches he made (also from those rubber work gloves). He would just wet it and lay it down on the beak. But he used very little pressure on the top of the mouthpiece and the patches never seemed to slip or come loose.

Awhile ago I saw by pure chance (can't remember which site at) some fancy multi-colored patches with design of various national flags (French tricolor etc.). Anyone stumbled upon these?

Way back when during a master class, Karl Leister spoke about taking a piece of leather and gluing it to the top of his mouthpiece. He never specified what type of glue but the rubber glue suggestion above sounds pretty good.

Back in the day there was a rubber glove “Ebonettes” which worked quite well as a mouthpiece patch secured with double-stick tape. Unfortunately, the company ceased production of that glove and I never found another that worked for me. The older Yamaha 0.5mm patches were also worthwhile as they really provided a nice cushiony feel (if that’s what one is looking for) but they have also been discontinued.

Actually, they're not discontinued. And they are great indeed. To me, they're always available in a local store.(you mean the orange-yellow spongy material 0.5mm Yamaha, correct?)

Hmm…well, my understanding is that, while some stores may still have them, Yamaha is no longer manufacturing them (or, at least, that’s what I’ve been told by more than one source).

I think that's not true. This store I'm talking about constantly brings them when out of stock. Amazon Japan also has them, not sure If they restock though.

Ahh..these are different than the ones I have - mine are actually clear rather than the orange-yellow color you mentioned. However, if they are “spongy” as you say, it may have only been a color change, maybe. The clear patches are definitely discontinued.

Yes, I was referring to the orange-yellow soft ones. But the 0.5mm clear also exist on Amazon Japan. Just got them yesterday, trying them..
