Hey everyone,
I haven't played clarinet since high school, and now during my senior year of college, I managed to dig it up from a storage compartment. While moving it, I managed to break the E# lever key pin, so I contacted a local music department who said that they would replace and install the thing for 30$. Although that sounds reasonable, I ended up finding a replacement part on amazon for ~$6 that worked fine.
However, all of my pads are yellowed and falling off, and while trying to replace a Misaligned Lpw-E key, I found that I was not able to screw the end screw back in, which implies bad threading on the screw or the little receptacle that it sits in. I wasn't able to find the same screw on amazon or wwbw, and a search doesn't reveal any other outlets.
The easiest option would be to go to a music store and get it fixed, but since money is tight, doing it myself seems like the only option. So, where do music stores get their parts from? Is there any website that sells specific parts? In the brief 3 years that i stopped playing, Buffet discontinued the b10, so will I have to try to re-kit the entire low-e key?

You could check if the thread is damaged by first visually checking it, then try to screw it in without the key.
Before screwing in, rotate screwdriver counterclockwise a couple of times. Do not force the screw in.
If it does not go in easily, try another screw from F# lever, without the key.
This way you can eliminate the key as a problem.
If the screw goes in fine, try it with the key, align the key carefully before putting the screw in.
Make sure to put a small drop of oil inside the key and on the screw before doing anything.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this type of work it may be better to bring it to a repair tech who would fix it properly.

To determine whether the problem is the screw or the post (post = what you called receptacle), very carefully check how the screw threads into other posts and check other similar screws in the post. It's not clear if you mean the right hand low E key, or the left hand lever for that key. the former uses pivot screws, the latter uses a rod screw, so only check with screw and posts that are the same.
Pivot screws should all be the same on a B10, rod screws are probably too (except the first finger combination rod-pivot one) but I can't remember for sure. So if it's the left hand key on a rod screw check e.g. the left hand F# lever which uses the same type of rod screw. Carefully because one of them may be damaged and stripped the other.
If the problem is one area of the threads of the screw is bent, etc. then it might just need to pass it through a die to repair it. Same for the post using a tap, but with some posts it's a little tricky (especially the left hand pinky levers). Since it's hard to thread this is a likely possibility. If the threads are stripped then more often than not it would be easier to thread, actually continue to spin after it's supposed to tighten.
