I've been offered a Selmer N by an old friend who bought it new and is giving up playing. It plays well and I've wanted something with a bigger bore than my Recital for several years, so the N appeals to me; however, I have no idea what I should offer for it. It will need some minor repairs (cork, some pads) but the joints have no cracks.
It comes with a crystal Selmer Rangefinder barrel, which I have never seen before.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hans

Depends on the value to you. I'd prefer it with its original barrel (never heard of a Rangefinder). There are some players who especially like the N series. If you showed me a clean, well-maintained Bb N series with its original barrel and in a vintage (yet still, somehow, clean) case, I'd consider paying about $350 to $425 for it. My favorite Selmer is probably K series. Depends on the day you ask. I just got an M series A clarinet, and it makes me very happy.
