I have a question that I’m quite curious about,
I recently purchased a Bufet Tradition (this was after trying a Yamaha CSVR, Selmer Presence, and ultimately traveling to RDG to pick an instrument amongst several R13’s, Festivals and Traditions). I have a Moening Barrel that I used with my R13 that when put on my new tradition, seems to really round out and darken the sound. Outside ears have all said that they like the Moening Barrel better than the stock Barrel. My question however is: is there a mismatch between the Moening Barrel and the Traditions bore? Is that a problem? I’m more curious than anything

Congrats on the new instrument. As for the barrel, the proof is in the playing: tone, response, and intonation (be sure to check intonation, both up and down the scale and your 12ths'!).

It's all about the taper and size of the bore. The differences are determined by the instrument, mouthpiece and player so the only way to know if it makes are more positive experience is to play it.
