 Android recording apps

I have to record myself for an audition in a couple months and just got the Note 8 phone. On my Note 5 it had a voice recorder app included and in the past I used that; but this one doesn't have it built-in. As I started to look at downloading it, I saw there are a bunch of others. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Are there any particular recording apps that are better suited to accurately recording acoustic instrumental music than others or might sound better than another?

I have also used the video recording face down or a separate video recorder in the past, but technology keeps changing and improving so I thought it worth an ask!

I used this app made by Sony in the past when I had an Android phone:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.androidapp.audiorecorder

It lets you adjust the quality of the recording if you need that sort of thing. I do notice though that the Samsung app has the option for trimming the audio clip you record, I can't remember if the Sony app did that.

I have a Note 5 right now and I use the same one mentioned by gavalanche20. Pretty customizable and easy to use. Prefer it over the Samsung Voice Recorder that was pre-downloaded.

Probably it is a necessary investment to buy a digital recorder from SONY or OLYMPUS. They are a bit expensive but much much better than any phone. I take mine everywhere I travel and record myself sometimes.

See above. Phones have come a very long way in recording quality but for an audition, definitely invest in a standalone recorder.

Bandlab is a great app. I use it for all my recording.

Ask your teacher or band director for a microphone. I never recommend recording with a phone. When I do (only for practice sake), I tend to loose the sweetness and ring to my sound.
