What would be the difference between a CF mp purchased directly from his
shop and one from a another venue or would there be any difference, since as stated on his website are built to order. I'm wanting to try one but was wandering if it would a mistake to get one from a venue other than CF directly. I've seen it
offered a little cheaper with other venues.

I believe that whether you order from him or a place like Muncy, they would be the same.

There is no difference other than the fact that the vendor may be cheaper and has a return/trial policy.

I agree with Ed and Sean. The only advantage might be if you want an adjustment done, talking to Clark directly might help getting you the 'perfect' mouthpiece. But I'm sure he'd adjust any of his products regardless where they bought.

Plus, if you order from somewhere such as Muncy Winds or Weiner Music, you might be able to try 2-3 different mpc's all at once to see which one works best for you. Read the fine print, because there will probably be a return and cleaning fee for the ones you return.

First off, I own many Clark Fobes mouthpieces. I really think they are all terrific! I love his Eb mouthpiece! I had a bit of a weird playing issue, and chatted with Clark, and he did "make" me 2 custom one-offs of his piece, a wee bit more open. Both were wonderful! So I purchased both! But I still predominately use his standard Eb piece.

Fobes makes great e flat mouthpieces, and you should consider an e flat extension as well as they are awesome. I have known Fobes very well now for more than thirty years. He is the reason I am a professional clarinetist. There will not be any difference between what leaves his shop and what you can get from online sources. For the most part he does not have people over to try mouthpieces nor deviate from his usual measurements, which he has empirically tested for years.

Best of luck......have a look at www.marksowlakis.com for more info and interesting blog posts.......
