Anybody have a recommendation as to which of the Maslanka woodwind quintets are A.) 'the best' and/or B.) 'most playable'?
I can find recordings of only the first three, and the sheet music is relatively expensive so I don't want to buy all of them! I'd like to start with one that is the 'most playable' if there is such a thing, but I'm also curious about opinions regarding which ones are the most fun/best/audience-friendly.
Thanks!

I like number 1 the best, and bought the parts - although they're all really fine pieces, especially played by the Bergen Quintet. The slow movement of no. 1 with the kazoo effect using just mouthpiece and barrel is such an original piece of sound imagination.

Yah, $65 isn't too bad but some are over $150. Not that I'm complaining! The guy, and the publisher, certainly deserve to make a living.
