I was wondering which schools of music are highly recommended or reputable in both the world and the US. Wat is the difference between a conservatory and the school of music in a university?

I believe that the music school at Indiana University in Bloomington is one with an excellent reputation.

I didn't attend there and wasn't a music major, so I can't speak from direct experience.
