Hi All,
I think i have raised this before but what is the issue with Buffet Evette clarinets?
They are the foreruner to the E11 which is respected and a wooden version of the B12 if I am correct?
So why do they only command the same price as a Bundy or B&H? Most people seem to want a Yamaha 200 series or a Buffet B12 student clarinet. But the Evette is wooden but will typically sell for half the amount of a B12 why is that?

Partly age, and also the fact that although it's primarily a Buffet product it's name doesn't carry the same weight as the magic Buffet. The Evette was available in wood and plastic and became the E11 and B12. I think, but do not know for sure, that there were some design changes at the time of the name change.

Maybe reputation? When I was a kid, my teacher told (my parents) not to get an Evette.
As a result, I ended up with a B&H Regent loaner from the wind band I was playing in ... not sure if that was any better ;-)
E&S Master models also command lower prices than the (very popular in Europe) E13 clarinets ... probably due to age, and the non-Buffet brand.
