Recently acquired an old wooden bass clarinet with two separate joints. The instrument is currently being stored in a ProTec case, but I find the case to be too big and bulky. Anyone know of a good "5 piece" bass clarinet case that is inexpensive? I really want one of the DEG cases but unfortunately they are no longer made. I also saw this but I don't know how anything about it and there are no pictures:

I think that firearms cases, in your situation, perhaps one big enough to accommodate a rifle or two, are great and cheap options.
Their double egg crate foam on either side--a plethora of which sit for auction at places like the one that starts with the letter "e," and ends in "bay" can be useful.
Measure first, read auctions, buy second!

Firearms cases are great in a perfect world but in this crazy time we are living in a paranoid cop may recognize that as a firearms case and shoot first and ask questions later. At the very least you will get questioned.
