Today I walked into a music store and saw a gentleman trying out three new Buffet clarinet - a Prestige, a Tradition and another model. I didn't keep track of which model he was playing at a particular time, but the chalumeau F on one or two of those three was flat, as was the low F. Going from the stock 66mm barrel to a 65mm barrel didn't help. The Tradition had the best sound to my ears, and the gentleman ended up reserving it (he might have been trying out for a student).
The Vandoren BD5 sounded very good to me (the way the gentleman played). The sound projected well (filled the room) without being bright or edgy. Quite a warm sound.
I shall wait till I am half-decent before I try these out in public ^_^
