Just curious if anyone is playing for funerals on a regular basis?
The Reason I ask is I play one to two funerals per week, here in W/S for the Moravian Churchs.
The Moravians have a strong history of having bands play Preludes and Chorales during the Funerals @ the Graveside.
There is a Moravian Band Funeral email list.
Generally 15 or more Musicians will show up for any given Funeral
The Bands are made up of a variety of brass and woodwind Players
The musicians played an aggregate of over 120 Funerals in 2016.
This is in Winston Salem, NC alone
Just curious if any other Members of the Clarinet Board are doing this?
I certainly wasn't until playing for these Funerals.
Bonus, it keeps your playing up to speed .

Ben:
I have not been an active musician since college, so I can not help you about playing for funerals. However, I think it is wonderful that some funerals have live musicians.
I actually listen to background music. When one of my grandparents died many years ago, the soundtrack consisted of "You Light up my Life", by Debby Boone. They played the original song, plus 2 elevator versions of the same song, on endless rotation. It was dreadful, just dreadful.
