Hello. This year for festival our band is playing El Capitan edited by Fredrick Fennell. I would like to play the Eb clarinet part for this song, however my directed has said the Eb cl. part is missing. Does anyone know where i could get a copy? Either for free or for a few dollars? Thanks in advance.

The Sousa march cards are available from IMSLP, including Eb clarinet. Does that fit the Fennell edition?

You can get one here

They typically charge $3 per part plus shipping.

The Eb part may not have been missing.
I have played under several band conductors including Fennell who have told me that Sousa himself did not like the Eb clarinet and only used it in a few of his works.
This march may have been one in which he purposely omitted scoring for Eb clarinet.
The part you have acquired may not be from the original set of parts.
You may want to see if you can reference an original score from the Library of Congress.

I wasn't clear - sorry. What is gained by the changes editions like Fennell's make to Sousa's original compositions? How are the changed versions superior to the "originals"?
