Hello again. I'm trying to find other musicians in my community to play concert band and orchestral works at the amateur level. I belong to the community concert band. One of the main members sent out a message on their facebook and web page letting other musicians know about my desire to strike up a band. Nothing came of her effort.
Despite widening my search, I have been unsuccessful in my ability to attract other musicians. I can't even find a pianist to play duets with.
Last Friday, I contacted a couple of retirement homes to see if they might be interested in a one-person clarinet performance. Again, no response. I stink at marketing or a business. Is it usually this difficult to find musicians to play in a group?
I live in Frankfort, KY. A beautiful town with few art or music opps.

Hi,
I'd suggest that you contact the music department of your local college/university. My experience is that they always know what's happening, who wants what and where it's happening. Have you tried placing an ad in whatever forum works best where you live? Here in Oz we use Gumtree as a way of contacting fellow musos, I'm sure there will be something similar in the US. Craigslist comes to mind, it functions in a similar way. That's how I found a jazz band that I play in.
