Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has a custom made Charles Bay bass clarinet neck? How do you like it? is it worth the money? How about the CB Bass mouth piece? Any thoughts/info would be appreciated.

If you have an older bass clarinet with an almost-horizontal mouthpiece angle, then a Bay neck (or other equivalent modern neck with some angle to it) should work well for you. As for "worth the money", that depends partly on how much you pay for it - if you can find a used one for, say $75 or less, I'd call that a real good deal.
Bay's mouthpieces are generally good, I used to play on them several decades ago until I learned to do refacing, now I just make my own. As with any brand of mouthpiece (even custom ones), try several, as many as you can, because every mouthpiece plays differently from every other, even from those with the same facing and chamber designations.

I use a Charles Bay mouthpiece and ligature on bass that I absolutely love. I can say based on my experience that I would probably put my confidence in the neck being good also.

If you haven't done so already, find out if a steeper angled neck feels better to you (you can get an idea by angling your current bass in a way that simulates a steeper neck). A steeper neck will usually lessen blowing resistance and make the tone brighter. If that is what you are after (and/or you find that the steeper angle is more comfortable), then you're probably better off having your current neck re-angled (probably cheaper) than buying a Bay neck (even used). You might also find during experimentation that your preferred playing angle lies somewhere between what you have and the Bay. A much steeper angle is not inherently "better" than a shallow angle. Everyone is different.
I play an early 1980s Bay on Bb clarinet and like it very much. I've never tried his bass mouthpieces, but imagine they are quite good. Give one a spin
