1825 workshop established by William Card (<i>b</i> 1788; <i>d</i> 1861; 1851 described as 'designer and manufacturer of flutes' and 'professor of flute'; he developed a flute model based on Boehm's 1832 system. 1861 his son Edward John (<i>b</i> 1817; <i>d</i> 1877) successor, now as 'Card & Co.' The marks 'Card & Imlay', 'Card & Scott' ('Scott' superimposed over 'Imlay'), 'Card & Liester' are reported.
