Hi, I'm an Adult learner.
I have a Leblanc Normandy 4 and use a VanDoren M15 Mp and a Rovner Dark Ligature
Ive been using Mitchell Lurie Reeds for 2 years .
I like using a 2 and 1/2 reed best.
Ive tried 3's but seem to shave them down quite a bit to get them where I like them, and actually after shaving the 3's down I'm thinking they are actually 2 and 1/2's at that point
When I get a good one it sounds quite good, but more often that not these Reeds have been duds for me.
I'd like to try some other reeds that are available at my local music store.
They have the VanDoren Traditional, the V12 as well as the Rico Grand Concert. Any recommendations on these 3?
I'm thinking about buying a couple of each and just trying them out.

You could try a vandoren traditional no 2. I don't think the v12 reeds come quite that soft. That should be about equivalent to your 2.5s. I find they need to be finished lightly, but then play well in general. I use the ATI system for finishing.

Ben,
You can try V12 2.5 as well as Traditional 2.5--they should be a tad softer than the traditional ones.
You can also try Juno reeds (student reeds marketed through Vandoren). These are about 1/4 strength softer than the Traditional reeds.
A good music store may have 3-reed sampler packs for both Vandoren Traditional and Juno reeds so you can try a few at different strengths without spending a lot.
Good luck!
