Hi!
I have an Armstrong Clarinet with the serial number 4018. I would like to find out more information about it. BTW does Armstrong keep a database like Buffet does?
Thanks!

The 4018 is the base model wooden clarinet out of UMI and may be badged as an Artley with small external differences in the appearance of the keywork. I do warranty repairs for a local dealer on these instruments and am told by the importer that the Armstrongs and Artley bits are made in Elkhardt the Armstrong is assembled in Mexico with cheap labour bu the Artlet is still assembled at Elkhardt They even had a model share on the next level wooden instrument in the 80's. Not the worlds best horn and the quality control can be ordinary as is the key plating.
They have been made since at least the beginning of the 80's and are still made.

I regard the Artley plastic clarinet as so very, very badly made (even wobbly posts)that I certainly wouldn't trust their manufacture of anything else. Their respect earned form me is nill.

Sorry, I meant to write Armstrong, but Artley are little better, and Accord are worse still. The threee 'A's!
