I was recently given an 87 year old Selmer A clarinet in an apparently original double pochette case. The clarinet itself is a subject for another post, but I was wondering if anyone could identify these two metal things found in the case? The one with the loop almost looks like it could hold a lyre, but doesn't fit this clarinet. It appears to be tarnished brass. The other is not brass.
The clarinet itself has evidence of mishandling in addition to normal age related issues. Among other things it looks like someone tried to mount a lyre on the barrel instead of the ring between the joints. The owner could have been doing something odd. Then again I once saw a clarinet for sale with a violin shoulder rest and was wondering if these parts belong on something completely different.
