He has perfect pitch AND his musician father (?) has trained him to identify chords properly by name.
Of course if he does not become a musician he could be a wicked good recording engineer/mixer !!!!

Years ago I went to school with someone who was able to identify any combination of notes played on a piano. Whatever you played (up to 10 fingers-worth) he would be able to hear. Amazing! You could just plonk (technical term!) your fingers in any random combination (didn't even have to be 'musical') and he would tell you the notes. That is perfect pitch!
