Which piece do you think is better for a orchestral audition or solo competition between:
Theme and variations (J. Françaix) or Clarinet Concerto (C. Nielsen)?
All orchestral auditions ask for Mozart, and sometimes, one more piece. Do you prefer Françaix theme and variations or Nielsen concerto as contrast for Mozart?

I feel the Nielsen has much more complex and significant moments for musical expression than the Francaix, which while still difficult from an articulation standpoint really isn't that bad of a piece once you can nail a B Major scale.
So yeah, agreed with David. Nielsen = much better audition choice.

Orchestras in Denmark always ask the Nielsen alongside Mozart and Debussy.
