For All district/state this year I am planning on trying out on 4 instruments, bass which is my main, Bb since I just got one for my birthday, Alto, and contrabass. The music for Alto, contra and bass are all the same music just on different years ( So my bass music from last is the alto for this year). Oh and the school really encourages everybody who makes jazz band to audition for the district jazz band too, Ill probably make the school jazz band but not the district one so I'm not to worried about it.
Also what contrbass reeds are the best? I dont want to "try" out different brands like you canon soprano or bass because they are like 60 dollars for classic vandorens. Im using a legere reed right now.

If the Legere is working, why not stay with it?

My teacher said it makes it sound like "The clarinet has a cold" and that it was likely a reed/mouthpiece combination problem.
Also I just like the feeling of cane reeds a TON more than synthetic.
