 Steuer Reeds from USA?

Does anyone know of a US seller of the Steuer brand of reeds?
I've checked most of the usual sources and no luck.

I contacted the Steuer company directly and after you pay for the exchange rate to Euros and shipping it comes out to almost $5.00 a reed!

Hi Robert,
I buy my Steuers from Die Holzblaser in Berlin. Check out the prices on their website.

Also, the Holzblaser price list includes sales tax, which will be deducted for orders shipped outside Germany.

Thanks Ken,

I looked at Thomann and they charge 30 Euros for shipping! Yikes.
So I will contact Die Holzblaser.

Bob Bernardo is now the US distributor for these reeds.

I'm going through a few of the Steuer Exclusives right now and my first impression is a positive one. They compare favorably to the Vandoren Traditionals but seem to run a bit less than a half size harder, based on Steuer 3's being a touch soft compared to Vandoren 3.5's. They are $3 each with free shipping ($30 for a box of 10) which makes them somewhat more expensive than the Vandorens can be had for online. All four that I've tried so far have been well balanced right out of the box and consistent in hardness. The cane is dense, solid, and clear. The visible dimensions and tip shape are very similar to the Vandorens.

I'll try to post a follow up review as an edit to this post after I've had more time with them. They are a bit different in feel and sound from the Vandorens. I haven't decided if this is a good thing or not yet. It might very well be. They seem so far to be more resonant but also somewhat brighter. A good addition to the arsenal, even if they don't become my primary reed - which they may! Most commercial reeds besides the Vandoren Tradionals and Legere haven't been satisfactory for me, so this is an encouraging development.

Anders

I also bought some from Bernardo and he was very fast and responsive.
