 Bb Clariner Mouthpieces!
Author: Jeff
Date:   1999-04-24 19:04

I have made the terrible mistake of trying my prof.'s Kasper mouthpiece. I have to say that it was what I have always wanted in a mouthpiece for both articulation and tone quality and color. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a Kasper? Also, if anyone knows of a mouthpiece that has a similar large bore like a Kasper please let me know or if your are using a mouthpiece that you really like let me know.

Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry about the type error. I meant to say Clarinet.

There are two auctions on ebay right now for Kaspar Mouthpieces. At the present moment, one is $255 and the other is $227.50 but the reserve price is not yet met on the second one. Just go to www.ebay.com and type in clarinet mouthpieces because both sellers have spelled Kaspar differently.

While I would be cautious about paying a large sum of money for a mouthpiece off ebay, I would highly recommend a Greg Smith mouthpiece. He currently has a Kasper copy. I have not played it, but I have a Chedeville copy(I think!) and love it to death. If you would like more info on these Greg Smith products, just email me and I can go more in depth.

I would recommend to try the Vandoren M 13 Lyre.
It have a Tip Opening (1/100mm)= 102 and a medium long Facing Length.
I'm using this mouthpiece for about two years and I really
like.

My vote is for the Vandoren, too!! Decent price and I've been happy with its performance.

I made the same mistake by borrowing a Kaspar! I recently bought a Gregory Smith, which I love. I definitely prefer it over anything by Vandoren, even at double the price.
