Hello all!
I recently purchased a really nice mid 70's Buffet R-13 A clarinet. It has a non-original bell. I was hoping to get a Buffet r-13 bell. Are the B flat and A bells interchangeable? If I can't find an original Buffet bell, are any of the aftermarket Backuns worth looking into? I have a tulip wood Backun for my r-13 B flat and like it quite a bit. Any suggestions here? Resources for an R-13 bell? Thanks in advance, Steve

The newer ones are stamped with either R13 A or R13 B ; they're different.
The A bell is slightly longer, I believe the internal dimensions are different, as well.
You can buy new replacement Buffet Bells from the major big box internet stores.
I'm not sure if there is a difference in mid 70's R13's. My A is from 2004.

I have two Backun Bells for my Bb and A Buffets and they are interchangeable. I settled on one for each after many uses but they both play great on either.

The standard Buffet R13 A bell is approx 2 mm longer than the Bb. Any bore differences are so small I cannot accurately detect them.
