Hey guys,
My clarinet has started making this metallic buzzing noise, on only middle register notes. It makes the tone really bright and tenny. Any ideas to the cause?

Megan,
Key mechanism may be "dry". Try applying some key oil if you haven't in awhle. Get a partner to lightly touch keys while you play the offending pitch. When the buzz disappears you've found the problem key. Usually that will fix the problem. If it persisits take it to you local repairer.

Try sucking all of the spit out from your reed. And maybe try getting a different reed! If you are using a new reed that could be the problem too! Hope I helped,

Check to see if something is loose such as the bell ring. If this is loose it can vibrate along with the sound of the horn creating an unwanted buzzing noise.

It can also be caused by a spring lightly touching a metal part that it should not touch, e.g. a register key flat spring touching the pivot tube, or indeed, ANY metal part lightly touching any other metal part.

Or it could be a buzzing pad - if the skin on a pad is loose, it can buzz, usually on the note(s) where it is over the major vent hole. Don't know if this is "metallic" or not, not having heard it.
