 Tons of horns!!

Wow, a lot of you guys have like 15+ horns ,what do you do with them all, do you play them and keep all of them maintained? I mean do you play them all consistantly or do you have one main horn and the rest are just there. I only have three and I barely play two of them. I am amazed at some of you guys have like 30 different horns, If you have that many horns; how many mouthpieces and ligatures do you have?!
I mean, with my only three clarinets, I've got like 6 or 7 mouthpieces and 6 or 7 ligatures

5RV.B45,anther B45, a no name mouthpiece that sounds really great, a buffet that came with the clarinet, another no namer, and a Percision or something like that

A regular Rovner, two metal, a regular old Bonade, a BG Super Relevation, and my latest addition a black Luyben

I don't own 15 of the same instrument but do have somewhat of a collection of musical instruments. I own one tenor sax, a flute and an oboe. I also have a piano. In addition to these I have my clarinets. Over the years I had many clarinets pass through my hand. Right now I own three working models (two Bb and one A.) My main set I keep in a double case and use. The other I keep as a backup. I also keep some non-working models as parts horns.

Yes, I have collected many mouthpieces, ligatures and cases that I have been overwelmed with, They just pop out from all corners from my room. I don't know why Buffet includes a student line plastic mouthpice with a professional clarinet. In any case I unloaded these on freinds taking up the clarinet and donated some to the school. But I still had many more plastic mouthpieces (they seem to multiply) I tried my hand at mouthpiece refacing. I kept the good quality ones to experiment with different sounds. I seemed to have less ligatures than mouthpieces. I experimented and invented a new Eb clarinet litature out one of these old ligatures. I Put vinal around the inside and made a reed plate out of a piece of plastic. I use it all the time as it makes the instrument sound darker rather than the high-penitrating sound assosiated with this instrument.

I like to have extra cases as they are good to have on hand incase an old clarinet comes my way in need of a better or any case. I actually made an oboe case out of one of them when I bought an oboe in need of a nicer case. I swiched the instrument form from the oboe case and inserted it in the clarinet case.

Now I have to unload a collection of lyres, reed cases and barrels and bells.

Clarinets and mouthpieces are much like wire coat hangers.

When left alone, unattended, they invite friends to stay over.

Given sufficient time and nothing to watch on daytime TV, nature takes its course.

If they are played frequently, they tend not to reproduce. (Or are at least, happy with the other horn sharing the case.)

I like having tons of instruments, but don't you go broke buying them? My parents will not let me buy anymore, because they think its stupid. That why I have to sell my oboe and sax so I can buy myself a new clarinet. Its not really killing me though. I did also buy myself a bassoon, with my own money.
