 Penzel mueller hard rubber clarinet?

I acquired a b flat hard rubber clarinet stamped Penzel Mueller New York. Serial number 8046. It's worn and it's in an old case. But I can't find any references to there being such a manufacture. And I'm wondering if it's a knock off. Does anyone know of PM hard rubber examples?

Does it say in simple typeface?
"Penzel Mueller
New York"

If it does it is probably "Standard" entry level model. Not sure if it was even made by PM or stenciled from someone.. perhaps Pedler, Bettoney or Pruefer? Either way it is an entry level clarinet which was made somewhere in 1950-1965 time frame. Dyna-Tone The other HR clarinet they made, but those marked as Dyna-Tone

Yes, the stencil is a stamp in the hard rubber:

there is more info PM offerings @ http://www.thevintageclarinetdoctor.com/the-licorice-shtick-blog/penzel-mueller-americas-answer-to-buffet

Out of listed I've worked/restored Brilliante, Artists and Empire.. and had seen Soloist, Bel Canto, Studio Recording and Dyna-tone.. Studio, Brilliante, Artist, Empire, Bel Canto and Soloist are wooden, Dyna-Tone is hard rubber but it had Dyna-Tone stamped.

PM flute we worked on with exactly the same typeface as in pic looked like a student level similar to Bundy/Artleys.. It was either stenciled from Artley or perhaps built from in-house drawn tubing with Arltey key set kit.

Give it a try it might as well be a decent player, but it is an entry level instrument. Some of those hard rubber entry level instruments from that era are very good, YMMV

Thanks for the reply. Jeremy (vintage clarinet doctor) restored a couple of Noblets for me this year which is how I got interested in this stuff. This hard rubber PM was the first "sacrifice" to my attempt at restoration. Glad to say it's back together with no leaks after 3 deconstructions and a lot of learning. It actually has a pretty sweet tone. I'll check intonation against the numbers.
