 Fingering charts

I'm an adult Beginner and am not taking any lessons...2 cheap!
That said I really value the information from the board Members...
Quick question.... the fingering Charts Ive looked at show that each note may have anywhere from one fingering to many more and I realize different fingerings for each note can offer advantages. My question though is the " first" fingering of each note considered the standard fingering and in my case the one to learn, if you aren't going to attempt to learn any other finger positions ( for the time being anyhow)
I'd like to think I can get by with the limited repertoire I will have with just one position for each note

This fingering chart is excellent, with the 1st option in each case being the 'basic' fingering.
