I'm curious to see if anyone has made crafty items out of clarinet parts or whole clarinets. Rather than fix my broken plastic, I'm gonna turn it into a lamp. I've heard about people making salt and pepper shakers out of barrels, but I'm not sure if that's feasable. I also saw somewhere years ago a footstool someone made with upper and lower joints as the legs, but I can't find any pics or info. Has anyone done any of these things, or made different crafts?

I've never done it, but I keep telling my clarinet friend in Oregon that I'm going to send her my used reeds and her kids can make Christmas tree ornaments out of them. My last batch of used reeds was given to a young oboist who's learning how to make her own reeds (something to practice scraping on).

I haven't done it, but when I read your post, I got the idea that a clarinet would be about the right length for the gearshift lever in my truck.

I've made a lamp from a clarinet that wasn't good enough even for spare parts.

I made a pencil holder from an old clarinet bell and a base I got at Home Depot.
