Following on from my search for the clarinet version of the Bax Trio in one movement I discovered a lovely work for the combination of clarinet violin and piano by the great English composer William Alwyn.
The piece was written in 1950 for Reg Kell Arthur Pennington and Richard Farrell who played under the name of the Claviano Trio.
Depending on taste the pieces are beautifully written which each instrument balancing and supporting the other ones in each of the 8 brief movement.
The piece is of 16 minutes duration.
There is a lovely recording on the Naxos website by Richard Plane and the score is available from Boosey and Hawkes publishers.
Surprisingly (or not) it does not get an airing on you tube.
I am glad I can share this on the board.
