Hi,
I am trying to get my dad to get me a new clarinet. I erally would like to have the Buffet R-13 clarinet. I was wondering by other people's opinion which one of the Buffet R-13, Vintage R-13, and the R-13 Greenline is better. I have tried the Buffet R-13 and the Vintage R-13 at All-State (Florida) I really liked the Vintage a lot at first and then after I played it longer I liked the Buffet R-13 bette, but I like them both. I was just wondering what other people's opinion was. Please let me know.
Thanks So Much,
Mindy

IMHO, I would recommend trying the other major brands i.e. LeBlanc, Selmer' Yamaha. It's like buying a Chev S-10 without trying the Ford Ranger

There is quite a bit of variation even within one particular model instrument. You may have liked the R13 you tried, but when you buy an instrument you should always aim to test as many instruments (even ones of the same model) as possible. It's possible that there are Vintage R13's out there that you may like better, or even worse. I hope this makes sense. Just remember, don't only try one R13 and one Vintage R13. Before deciding which model you prefer, try a bunch of them and see which is the best for you.

The "green" Model is a composite material and not as good as a solid grenadilla body. R13 is a great clarinet .. you can't go wrong, but try as many as you can because they (like most instruments ... perhaps excluding Yamaha) aren't created equally.

???????? Eh ?????????
Sez who? Ricardo Morales plays a "not as good as grenadilla" Greenline, along with Bob Spring and quite a few other players. This is your opinion, but it's far from being a fact.
