I'm looking for a place to buy single parts. Kalmus has a 10 dollar minimum order, so the part I need (Borodin's Polovetsian Dances) costs 2.50 plus shipping, but the lady (whom I could hardly understand anyway) said they'd have to charge me 10 dollars for the 2.50 part if I wanted to order it. I know there are other places, I just can't remember.
Thanks to anyone,
Angella

Angella -
Jeanne' sells individual parts. Go to http://www.jeanne-inc.com/.
You need other parts in addition to the Borodin. At a minimum, you need Beethoven 6, Mendelssohn Midsummer Night's Dream, Tchaikovsky 6 and Ravel Daphnis & Chloe. The Beethoven and Mendelssohn are called for at 100% of auditions, and the Tchaikovsky and Ravel at 95%. Therefore, you can easily meet the Kalmus minimum. Be aware that Kalmus editions are notorious for poor quality paper and printing, but they're sometimes all you can find.
For these very familiar excerpts, you really need the full scores, which are available in good, inexpensive editions from Dover. Most large bookstores stock them, and you can probably get them from Luyben http://www.luybenmusic.com/, Amazon <www.amazon.com> or Jeanne'. For the imporance of using the score, see my long posting on the solos in the Beethoven 8th third movement, http://www.sneezy.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=26741&t=26741.
Best regards.

Try http://www.lucksmusic.com/ You would probably want to get the Mendelssohn Symphony No. 3 too. I've seen it more often than Midsummer.
