Okay, I am a senior in high school and I'm going to major in music. I am concidered by many people as an advanced player, but I'm not sure I agree. I just really love playing my clarinet so I do it as much as possible. Last year for my solo I played Concertino by Weber. I have already learned the first movement of Mozart's clarinet concerto. It isn't perfect (nor will it ever be) but I still have till February to get it much better. I am about to start learning the third movement of the Grand Duo Concertant by Weber. I'm unable to physically play right now because I have tendonitis very badly in my right hand from practicing so much. I am wondering, should I get Concertino back under my fingers once I'm able to play again just to have another piece that I play very well or should I not worryabout it and focus on the Grand Duo? Also, I am not taking lessons because I am unable to at the present moment. The band director at our 6th grade campus just graduated from the college I'm auditioning for (she plays the clarinet also). She is helping me a lot with my music, but I don't see her except once a week and I never am able to play for her because she is always extremely busy. She says I'm going to be accepted and for me not to worry, but I haven't played in over a week, so I'm not sure what to do. Any advice on anything I've said would be very helpful.
Thanks!:)

Are you going to major in ED or Performance.
Reality check is that in Performance, that will be almost an impossible dream, even if you were 1st Chair all 4 years in your Region, and took lessons since you were 9 with a great teacher.
As that's the minimum you will be up against in Performance School.
Training is paramount, talent isn't nearly enough.
