I was wondering if any marching bands use Eb clarinets? Does yours? Why would the band need it?

The use of the Eb clarinet generally in high school tends not to be very satisfactory due to low quality instruments usually available and inexperienced players. I think it would safer to stick to piccolos for top end of the marching band.

Zannah-
Consider the size of the band. If it has under 100 members, then there are other instruments that might be more important to produce enough sound to fill a stadium.
On the other hand, suppose you are in a large college band with 400 to 500 members. The director can afford to pick and choose the instrumentation to produce a symphonic sound that will fill any stadium or parade route!
