I am a current senior in high school and am working on auditions for college. One of the schools I'm looking at, Peabody, asks for the Adagio section of the Mozart concerto and one of three other solos. I was wondering if I would also be expected to play scales and sight-read? Thanks for the insight.

ClarinetKid23 -- there's too much at stake with your future to leave anything to chance or hearsay. I'd call the Peabody school of music office right now and ask that question.
Additionally -- I have my private students arrange to take a lesson with as many of their prospective college professors as possible.
Good luck with your auditions!

Why even ask? Learn all your scales and hone your reading skills just because it's good for you, not because you have to.

Yes -- all my kids know their scales too. Not knowing for a fact what your obligations are for an audition is a great way to have an audition get away from you in a hurry.
Why take chances? Know what the requirements are.

I'm assuming the original poster already knows all the scales and has had to sight read at auditions before. I suspect they just want to know what's expected. However, this info is best found by calling or emailing the school, not posting here!
