Hello All!
My son will be flying to California from NJ during Christmas break, and needs a new case for his clarinet (a Lyrique). Any suggestions?
Thank you -

I would suggest a Protec case. They are lightweight, sturdy, and they zip shut, so there is no possibility of it popping open if it is dropped. Gator cases seem to be very similar, but I've never used one. They can be had for under $50. http://tinyurl.com/cl32m2v

My Bam case keeps the cold away. It holds my clarinet snugly. It is a little pricey.

I think of Aesop's fable with the golden goose. I've got to take care and protect that which makes my golden eggs! haha.
Seriously though, other cases don't keep the cold away like BAM does. If you don't live somewhere cold this may not matter.

I recently bought a Leblanc case that is great. Made by BAM but much less expensive.

I recently also found a BAM-produced Leblanc-labeled double case to replace my actual BAM double which had gotten pretty beat up over time, for less than half the price of a new one!

I have the newest version of the Protec Double clarinet case and I love it, It's got amazing space for accessories and music fits in the front. It's got a nice zipper so no chance of it falling out!
Only downside is that you have to buy the backpack strap separately, but for the price you could buy two of these for the price of a bam case!
I have protect cases for both my saxophone (this one going on 8 years) and my clarinets and I love them both, highly recommended

I have a Altieri cover case, and it's amazing. It's a case cover, with lots of features to keep your clarinet safe. I am a pro clarinetist, using the Festival, and my clarinet has been safe from weather changes, heavy drops, etc.

Thanks, Everyone, for the great suggestions. After considering his needs, price, etc. we decided on a Protec. Hope he likes it - it's a birthday gift. Appreciate the input.
Happy Holidays!
