I have been on the market for a good Eb clarinet. I have narrowed my options to two: Leblanc LL Eb Clarinet or Patricola Cl.1S Eb clarinet. Originally I was going to get the Leblanc LL but then I read some reviews on the Patricola. So what do you guys think? Which one should I get? Oh and what do you guys think of rosewood vs. grenadilla? And is the Patricola one a professional model? Thanks!

I agree with Richard. Play test both and buy the one you like better. They are both good clarinets. The LL is probably the older of the two since they have been out of production for several years now but the good LL's are usually very good indeed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either if it performed well during a play test.

The best Eb clarinet I ever played was an old Leblanc LL model. I had it in my hands ready to buy, until the music store called to inform me it showed up on a stolen instrument listing. Had not been for that, I would still be playing it instead of the Yamaha 681 I eventually purchased. Regarding the Pat., I have never played one but a collegue in my orchestra plays one and it sounds terrific. Nice big sound, just like a high playin Bb. But that's all *me*--the best advice is to try both instruments and pick the one that sounds the best for YOU. echoing above advice, I don't think you could go wrong with either.
