Hello all!
I know this might have been discussed already, but I'm looking for a solution! Ever since Vandoren began engraving the backs of the V12's, I've noticed that they are softer and considerably buzzier... and it seems to be getting worse as time goes on.
Recently, a friend of mine gave me a box of V12's in the same strength I use... but, he told me that they were older and had the emblem stamped on as they were before. I tried them, and they're fantastic! Not so soft and flimsy as the new ones.
Does anyone know of any online music stores that are still selling the old, un-engraved V12's? Is it even possible to differentiate between them just by the outer packaging?

You will most likely need to call/email some of the stores. I get reeds from different assorted stores. RDG Woodwinds in Hollywood, Washington Music Center near DC, are the 2 stores I've used this last years.
There's a cane problem right now. I picked up a pile of boxes of the Van. 56 reeds, because the 12's were folding up. I've been very happy. I bought 1 box at RDG and liked them a lot so I went back and bought alot of the stock. If you find that reeds are playing well from a store buy as many boxes from that shipment. RDG has very good prices on everything. Nancy owns it and feel free using my name. Hopefully she won't triple the price!
