Do any of you know of any articles or papers on how Debussy composed for the clarinet in an orchestral setting, and/or how he wrote for the other woodwinds/the woodwind section in both his orchestral and chamber work? Clearly a lot has been written about the clarinet in the Premiere Rhapsodie, which I have read, but I'd like to see some background to this solo setting, and I am having difficulty finding much, save comments as to how the woodwind section was generally considered more like a group of chamber soloists with individual characters, rather than a concrete section.
Any help appreciated!

If you have access to a university music library, the reference librarian will know about or be able to find "Debussy wisdom." Any library will have access to JSTOR, which is the best service for finding scholarly articles.
<ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Database> is the place to look for specialized research and analysis.
A Google search on "Debussy studies" finds a number of books. The Wikipedia entry also gives a guide to sources http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Debussy. A search on "societe debussy" finds various scholarly sites, including the Centre de documentation Claude Debussy. You can get in touch with the various authors for expert guidance.
The Klarinet list has a more scholarly orientation than this board. Subscribe at http://lists.serve-music.com/mailman/listinfo/klarinet.
Have you tried the Australian Saxophone & Clarinet Society http://clarinet-saxophone.asn.au/?
Finally, you could use sites such http://ask.metafilter.com/ or <ask.com>, from which you can get remarkable displays of expertise.
