Hi,
I have an Evette clarinet. It's labeled as Made in W-Germany. When I enter the serial number on the BC website, I get back this:
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : BC 1131
Serial number : 219919
Year of manufacturing : 16/11/1981
I'm wondering about the quality of the horn. It appears to be wood. Any help is appreciated.

Buffet does not list Evettes on their website, only pro-level models (R13 and higher). You will not be able to trace the Evette through the Buffet site.
People can probablt assist you here if you post more info or a photo. The satndard Evette is a decent, upper-level student model. Above it are the Evette & Schaeffer, the master Model, and the Evette & Schaeffer Master Model. Not sure at the moment, which of those was the second position and which the third.

The wooden Evette became the Buffet E11 in the mid '80s and was still being made by Schreiber in Germany (the plastic Evette became the B&H Regent II for a short time and then the Buffet B12). They still make clarinets but under the Schreiber name now.
The E11 France is made in the former Leblanc factory in France which is now owned by Buffet.

I think Buffet now owns Schreiber and still have some models made by them.

I have both an Evette (made in Germany) and an older Schreiber & Sohne clarinet. Interesting thing about the Schreiber & Sohne is that it is one piece and comes in a longer case. One of the trill keys was bent and I think it was from the seller trying to take it apart.
