The American composer and pianist Marc Neikrug wrote his Clarinet Quintet for David Shifrin, who performed its New York premiere with the Orion String Quartet at Alice Tully Hall on Friday, in a Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center program, “Great Clarinet Quintets.”
