I had the chance to hear a very clarinet friendly program the other night in Wichita (Tombeau de Couperin, Mozart Nr. 40, and Sibelius Violin Concerto). All the winds (and strings too!!!) played wonderfully but it is worth noting that the Wichita Symphony Orchestra's principal clarinetist, Adrian Sandi is a wonderful musician with a great sound.
I couldn't see from my perspective what clarinet he's using but his 'head shot' seems to indicate a Tosca.
Mr. Sandi is presenting a 3:00 p.m. recital Sunday April 22 at the Wichita State University College of Fine Arts. I certainly hope to be there and encourage anyone in the 'heart of the mid-west' to come on down too!!!
