So, I'm performing Deepwood this month for my high school's solo competition. I always like to do a little research on the composer of the pieces I work on, but I can't seem to find much about David Bennett. I looked him up on wikipedia but all I learned is that he was a canadian composer. I also searched the board but didn't find anything useful either. I know he wrote Deepwood, what other pieces did he write? Did he play bass clarinet, or what inspired him to write a bass clarinet solo? What style of music did he usually write? Too me, Deepwood gives off a little bit of a jazz vibe. Oh, does anyone have any guesses on why he named the solo Deepwood? Is it because it's usually played on a wooden, low instrument, or is there more to it then that?
Any info on David Bennett and his music would be appreciated!
