does anyone know of any good e flat clarinets for sale? this is for professional auditions and festivals, but at this moment, i don't have the professional money to buy a brand new one. i know that though a troublesome instrument, the e-flat can play amazingly well if it's a good one, (especially if it's been brannenized) but... i just need something decent. any ideas? i already searched the classifieds.
thanks!

Hi, Angella -
You've probably tried all these but, for whatever it's worth:
Have you tried running a 'wanted' ad in your local paper, contacting your local schools, music/repair shops, music teachers, other musicians(not just clarinet folks), band directors and pawn shops? eBay sometimes has some.
We know you've tried here. Hope you find something suitable soon.

Angella -
I was in International Music (Rod Baltimore's store) in New York City yesterday, and they had a Buffet RC Eb in near-new condition on consignment. It played very well. If you're near the City, you should try it. They know what it's worth, but it will be less than a new one.
Best regards.

I purchased a Buffet E-11 eefer about a year ago. It is really a fine instrument, wood one piece body and siler plated keys, yet cost less that $900 new! My clarinet instructor, a retired symphony clarinetist, said he was really surprised at the quality of the instrument, having played on much more expensive instruments of lessor quality. You will be hard pressed to find a used pro-line instrument for less than $900.

I second the good reviews of the Buffet E-11 professioal levels of performance. I recently purchased an E-11 C (about $850.00) and am impressed by its sound, eveness of scale and intonation. I can only imagine that the Eb mode lof the E-11 series plays equally as well. Hope you get to try one.
