Many of you may be familiar with Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude famously played by Mischa Maisky on Youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6yuR8efotI

It is a very, very beautiful piece which I have spent all of Christmas Eve searching for a clarinet arrangement for it. Well, I didn't find one.

However I made one!... or two.

Using this free online software called Noteflight I managed to make the original key version, which had to be transposed up a couple of octaves.

http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/62b70f98ce398f237699a4bb1f09618b0584c22c

For those of you who want the piece as low as possible, here is the piece in Concert A Major (transposed up from Concert G major, the original key).

http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/6185570180592ed95fcab0f58ef6eece4980453d

If anyone has a clarinet that can play down to a low D (D3), I'd be happy to adjust it to a lower octave, original-key version for you. Just let me know!

Free sheet music for everyone!
Hopefully I timed this post so that no one will see until Christmas morning...
I'm eager to hear how you all celebrated :)

...and for those who don't like keys with lots of sharps and flats, here's a version in written C major: http://www.hochstrasser.org/wiki/files/bwv1007-BbClar.pdf.

Do wait, however, till tomorrow. :-)

I'm playing the Sarabande from the first cello suite as an encore on New Year's eve this year --if my ability to work the captive audience properly.

That involves serving margaritas and chocolate in just the right quantities and timing everything perfectly.

Oh, and wrt timing. I am playing through the program 3x each day, but still fiddling with the articulations in the Fifth variation of the Bella Kovacs Hommage a C.M. von Weber.

Off to work I go!

I went to Noteflight, registered, and still can't download the music. I hate to take a screen shot, load into PaintShop, crop, print, ...

SIGH

From the number of sharps involved, I think I'm going to try this on my A clarinet.

I need some practice transposing, anyway.

Thank you!

To print, you use the File>Print menu on the Noteflight page, not your browser's menu bar.

Doh!

Thanks, oca

Haha :) No problem

Tell me how you play C# to B or the register jumps legato, they are getting me... maybe its my clarinet's fault.

Merry Christmas Bob!

It's especially important to avoid keys with sharp notes if you have a baby around... :)

I got 10 boxes of Grand Concert reeds. If you read the small print it says these reeds may contain assorted poisons such as rat poison.

Oca:

Your last comment ^^ said so little yet so much at the same time. I never had such a good laugh. And Bob, is that true?
