Hi, I've had this noblet clarinet in my posession for awhile, I wanted to know more about it. The strange thing is it only has three numbers for the serial code, 822. Some research told me that its likely a 27 or a 40 because of the noblet emblem it has (it has the one with the d on top, encased in a harp looking thing) but the serial numbers just don't match up, am I doing something wrong? Or does it date farther back than 1964? Any information would be appreciated.

sounds like a model 40 from the fifties or early sixties. That harp looking thing is a lyre supposedly.

It's likely a pre-1964 instrument.
Noblet has, over the decades, occasionally restarted its serial numbers when introducing new generations of clarinets--meaning a Noblet with serial number 6800, for example, could be a lot older then one with a low serial number of 310. You've got to examine the keywork and other details of the instrument to be able to determine its age.
This is especially true in the case of Noblet's second-line instrument, the Normandy, which has had at least three serial number restarts.

Thanks for the replies so far, this info has confirmed my suspicions on its age, as for the serial numbers that makes sense and so does the lyre emblem, thanks for the information again, if anyone else has info it will always be apreciated!
