 Accord Clarinet

Anyone hear of this particular clarinet? There is one on eBay (it is plastic) along with 3 other instruments (mostly Noblet and one unknown make) that are available for parts and/or repair. Only citation I could find about this horn was it was initially a imprimatur of E. K. Blessing, Inc. of Elkhart, IN. However, Blessing, according to their webpage, is now primarily a brass wind maker. Only other item I could find about Blessing is they are now a division of Powell Flutes.

As an aside, I'm back after a several year absence. After 25 years in Library Science and Information Technology professions (with all the mental scars to prove it), it finally dawned on me I should have never left music as a profession. I'm still singing (which I'm primarily known for in my neck of the woods (South Central PA)), but I'm trying to get back to my roots (now that my shrink has me on medication that is really helping with my issues regarding bipolar and anxiety disorder, as well as finally getting my diabetes and blood pressure somewhat under control). I also just found out that a good friend of mine, who's been my tech for years (and before that, his grandfather was my tech) is moving to Florida. Since trying to find work around here (how I hate delivering pizza) is challenging (to say the least), I've been trying my hand at restoring clarinets (that is, re-cork and repaid, as well as replacing springs. I'm not even going to attempt to pin or band cracks in wood horns, YET.) I've just finished re-padding and recorking a Yamaha YCL-32. I'm just waiting for pin springs, so I can replace one that got damaged due to all the disassembly I've had to do on the lower joint. (the 4 pinky keys on the lower joint. The top par of keys had a post screw that was rusted into the posts and had to be cut. The job was a lot easier that trying to reassemble my Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini to replace a fried hard drive.)

The only issue I have right now is with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right hand and wrist. My physicians over that last few years were and are residents that have graduated from Penn State University--Hershey, PA (which is both the School of Medicine and the Medical Center), and are not musicians. I have an appointment (made recently, despite what Medicaid says) with an Orthopaedic Hospital that is quite close to me. I've tried hot and cold compresses and wrist braces, without success. I also used Tom Ridenour's thumb saddle briefly, but still can't get relief. Anyone have any suggestions on what to try next.

Have a look at this:-

http://flextend.com

Note, I have nothing to do with Flextend, but my late business partner claimed that their system worked wonders for his occupational carpal tunnel syndrome.

Randy....my personal experience re carpal tunnel is that surgery is the solution. Of course, that is preceded by appropriate tests to define carpal tunnel as the true problem. If you have future Mac problems look into iFixit website. Perhaps the Accord clarinet was an accessory for that Honda model auto...lol.

Talk about driving distracted! (And probably not a good idea to try playing it in your car in a public parking lot, either.)

Best regards,
